The Hazel Score is a standardized score assigned to most health inspections collected by Hazel Analytics. Health Departments have a variety of quantitative and qualitative scoring systems - or even no score at all. For this reason, Hazel Analytics applies a standardization algorithm that puts everything into a 0-100 percentile score, accounting for the strictness of each health department. This allows users to compare inspection performance across jurisdictions.
The Hazel Score is not calculated for reinspections, because reinspections are often much narrower in scope and can skew the overall hazel score for a facility or brand. Instead we assign a pass/fail rating to reinspections that have no violations and reinspections that contain violations, respectively.
