A consumer complaint is an official complaint against a food retail facility to a health department. In certain jurisdictions, a consumer complaint will trigger a health inspection for that particular facility. These inspections are similar to routine inspections, but can differ in scope based on the complaint that was filed. Inspections triggered by a consumer complaint may occur at any time.
